Historically, the Bardic Picnic has been held in the grounds of Delapre Abbey – a beautiful setting with an ancient connection to the spiritual heart of the town of Northampton. Due to the recent refurbishment of the Abbey, the festival has been unable to use the grounds as a venue since 2014, but it is very much hoped that the festival will return there in 2017.
For now, we are very excited to announce that, following on from the enormous success of last year’s festival held at The Pomfret Arms (Northampton), this year’s festival will be held at The Black Prince (Northampton) on Sunday 7th August 2016 – 12.00 Noon to Midnight. This new venue gives us an even more central location, with much more space – both indoors and out.
So pop the event in your diary – Sunday 7th August – and join us for one of the best days out in Northampton, with live music stages both indoors and outdoors, an open mic stage, picnic areas on the lawn, family fun and stalls galore!
If this whets your appetite to get involved this year, take a look at our Get Involved page for more information on how you can apply to be a part of what makes the Bardic Picnic so unique and wonderful.
As always, we will be celebrating the weaving of spoken and sung words, with the contest to find the Bard of Northampton 2016 at the centre of the festivities. Could you have what it takes? Visit our Bardic Contest page for more information.
